GAZA — Palestinian group Hamas has alleged that Israeli military attacks on the Gaza Strip are still ongoing, despite the recent formation of a peace board aimed at maintaining stability.

In a recent statement, Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem said that continuing military operations across Gaza completely disregards the ongoing efforts of international mediators and the jurisdiction of the newly established peace board.

"The destruction and massacres against the Palestinian people have not stopped," Qassem stated. He further noted that while the tactics or nature of the attacks may have shifted slightly, the core objective remains unchanged. Qassem also expressed frustration that the assurances provided by the guarantor countries to implement the ceasefire have so far failed to produce any effective results.

Mounting Casualties Despite Ceasefire
According to data released by Hamas, at least 650 Palestinians have been killed in various ceasefire violations since the truce went into effect. The victims include 198 children and 85 women, with another 1,662 people reported injured during this period.

Devastating Toll Since October 2023
The group claims that since the massive escalation of the conflict on October 7, 2023, more than 72,000 Palestinians have been killed and approximately 172,000 have been wounded. In addition, over 8,000 people remain missing, likely trapped under the rubble.

The extensive bombing campaign has obliterated nearly 90% of Gaza's civilian infrastructure. According to preliminary estimates by the United Nations, rebuilding the devastated enclave could cost roughly $70 billion.
