DHAKA — A Dhaka court has extended the deadline for the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to submit its investigation report on the assassination of Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman bin Hadi to March 11[1].

The court passed the order after the CID failed to present the much-anticipated probe report on the previously scheduled date, further prolonging the legal proceedings of this high-profile case[1][2].

Background of the Assassination
Sharif Osman bin Hadi was brutally attacked on December 12. According to the case statement, unidentified assailants riding a motorcycle intercepted Hadi on Box Culvert Road in Dhaka's Paltan area, shooting him at close range. He sustained critical gunshot wounds to the head and neck[2].

Hadi was initially rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital and later transferred to Evercare Hospital. As his condition rapidly deteriorated, he was airlifted to Singapore on December 15 for advanced medical intervention. Despite extensive efforts, he succumbed to his injuries on December 18[2].

An attempted murder case, originally filed by Abdullah Al Jaber at Paltan Police Station on December 14, was converted into a murder case following Hadi's death[2].

Mounting Frustration Over Delays
The repeated deferments of the probe report have sparked widespread frustration. Approaching the three-month mark since the assassination, members of Inqilab Mancha and his supporters have expressed deep concern over the lack of visible progress or arrests in the case[3]. The ongoing delays have previously triggered multiple street protests and clashes with police as activists continue to demand swift accountability and justice[2].
